Hostel Weekends:

Hostel weekends are relatively informal affairs, with walks on Saturday and Sunday and overnight accommodation on Friday and Saturday. Trips a long way from Cambridge are often for 3 nights or more. 'A' walks are guaranteed, with around 6 hours walking; 'B' walks depend on a volunteer leader. Travel is normally in cars and we try to arrange car sharing. All bookings are handled by Jill Tuffnell, with cheques payable to 'E G Tuffnell'. Please book well in advance as the full balance must be paid 8 weeks before the trip. If you can offer to drive or want a lift please let Jill know. And you are very welcome to book your own B&B or hotel and join us on walks.

News and Notices:

80th Anniversary. The celebration held at Hills Road 6th Form College on the 16th September was a very enjoyable occasion attended by 160 members. The theme of the event was 'down memory lane' and an excellent slide show was presented of photos and film taken over the past 70 plus years. Everyone sat down to a 2 course buffet meal with tea/coffee. Arthur Hulme gave a highly amusing talk and Dorothy Alderson, a member for 50 years, cut the cake. Grateful thanks go to all helpers who made it such a wonderful occasion full of good fellowship.

Annual General Meeting. 27th November. A total number of 28 attended. The current committee was re-elected, there being 1 vacancy. If anyone is interested in joining please contact John Pym. Chris is no longer able to arrange the Autumn Coach Weekend due to his Ramblers Holidays commitment. We are very grateful that Chris can continue to organise the Spring Coach weekend and Lakes week and also grateful thanks to David for taking up the mantel for next October. Congratulations to Audrey and Derwent on being elected as life members.

Wednesday 'C' News from Sheila "Slight mutterings that we do not go out for a meal, have got back to me! I am sure that we are all far too busy to contemplate a Christmas gathering, so how about, if you are interested, making a date in the New Year. Please let me know your thoughts. Derwent has come up trumps again on the next walks programme, but thank you everyone for your continuing support. Wednesday is the highlight of my week and I am pretty sure that goes for most of you. Finally, who owns the light blue sports shirt - Henbury, (Barrett '05 on the front) and a Peak Trekker North Star walking pole which are in the boot of my car? Not mine." Sheila.
